The photos on the right are enlargements of disc surfaces that have been exposed to fingerprint smudging. On the disc that has not undergone hard coat processing, fingerprint smudges manifest as large particles spread over the entire surface area. On the disc with DURABIS hard coating, the fingerprint smudges manifest as small particles that are far less likely to interfere with the laser beam during data recording and reading.
During day-to-day handling, inadvertently touching a disc's surface may be inevitable, but with DURABIS, the threat of fingerprints is drastically reduced. DURABIS protects the disc surface against fingerprint contamination when the disc is loaded into--and removed from--a player or recorder.
