DURABIS: Resists Dust Adherence

For an optical disc, dust represents a major threat. One of the main reasons why dust is attracted to a disc's surface is the presence of static electricity. To help prevent dust from adhering, a disc surface must have rapid electrical discharge properties.

The figure indicates the charged electrical potential and attenuation time of three types of discs. Compared with a disc without hard coating, which shows hardly any attenuation even after one hour, a DVD with DURABIS 1 hard coating gives up half its electrical potential after approximately 45 minutes.

DURABIS technology's rapid discharge effect helps reduce recording and playback errors by preventing dust from adhering inside the drive mechanism.
